Building the Future of European Energy
Energy Save is taking a bold step on our journey toward a sustainable energy future. In Istanbul, Turkey, construction is underway on a new factory that will reshape how we serve the European market.
This facility isn’t just about bricks and steel; it’s about delivering faster, more reliably, and at lower cost. With a planned annual capacity of 50,000 heat pumps, the factory will begin supplying customers in early 2027. It also marks a key contribution to the EU’s climate ambitions: reaching 60 million installed heat pumps by 2030, three times the number in place today.
Building with Care
When Product Manager and CTO Christian Gulbrandsen recently visited the site, the focus was on laying the foundations, both literally and figuratively.
“Right now, excavation and piling work is underway to ensure the factory, which sits on sloping ground, is built safely,” he explains. “The earthquake in Turkey at the beginning of 2023 reminded us all how important solid groundwork is. It means the work is progressing a little slower than planned, but we’re in no rush. The foundations will take the time they need.”
Completion is expected in 2026, setting the stage for the factory’s first deliveries the following year.
Strengthening Europe’s Supply Chain
Energy Save already has sufficient production capacity in China. But the new Turkish facility brings something more: resilience.
“The investment in Turkey strengthens our delivery capability and reduces geopolitical risk,” says Gulbrandsen. “If the EU were ever to introduce tariffs on products from China, this factory ensures we can maintain an efficient supply chain within Europe.”
By shortening lead times and cutting delivery costs, the Istanbul site will make it easier for customers across Europe to access the technology they need.
Powering the Green Transition
Once fully operational, the factory’s 50,000 heat pumps per year will play a vital role in Europe’s energy transition. Each unit installed brings the EU closer to its 2030 climate targets, and helps households and businesses reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.
Step by step, factory by factory, together we’re building the future of European energy.
